Omer Vander Ghinste brewery won 2 gold medals on the World Beer Awards! VanderGhinste Oud Bruin and OMER. Traditional Blond got elected as World's Best Beers. This is a reward for the progress the brewery is making the past years.
The World Beer Awards is the most important beer contest world-wide. A professional jury is chosing the top 3 per style in every continent, and afterwards the winners are competing each other. The best beers in 8 categories are being elected.
VanderGhinste Oud Bruin - World's Best Dark Beer 2015
After a silver medal on European level in 2013, a gold medal on European Level in 2014, VanderGhinste Oud Bruin now wins the gold medal on world level. During the World Beer Awards, VanderGhinste was elected as "World's Best Dark Beer 2015".
VanderGhinste Oud Bruin is a beer of mixed fermentation, matured for 18 months on oak casks. The typical taste has a nice balance between fruityness of the top fermentation with the soft sourness of the spontaneous fermentation. It has a refreshing and thirst-quenching taste. This unique beer type is one of the oldest beer types in the world and is only being brewed in the south of West Flanders. And did you know, it was the first beer Omer Vander Ghinste brewed in 1892?
OMER. Traditional Blond - World's Best Belgian Blonde Ale 2015
And if that was not enough, OMER. wins a gold medal in another category. OMER. Traditional Blond wins the title of "World's Best Belgian Style Blonde".
OMER. Traditional Blond is a topfermented beer with a secondary fermentation in the bottle, brewed according to an original recipe. It contains carefully selected ingredients, such as high-quality malted barley from the Loire region (France) and three varieties of aromatic hops. It is a full flavoured beer with a fruity aroma and a subtle bitterness.
OMER. Traditional Blond has a golden colour and contains 8% vol. alc.
This beer also won some medals, as the European Beer Star Award in 2009 and the World Beer Cup in 2010.
Reward for brewery
Since 1892 Omer Vander Ghinste brewery is brewing quality beers, using the most modern techniques in Bellegem. This is a reward for the efforts of the past years. The nice growth in the brewery is resulting in a new brewing installation and a new distribution centre the next years.
