On the recent European Beer Star Competition, Brasserie LeFort won a silver medal in the category: Belgian Style Strong Ale.
The competition "European Beer Star" was organised for the 11th time. 1.623 beers from 42 different countries competed in different categories. The beers were selected by 105 jury members, such as brewmasters, beersommeliers and well known beer experts. All beers were tasted in three stages and the winners were announced beginning of november.
In the category Belgian Style Strong Ale Brasserie LeFort won a silver medal, which is a great honour for the new beer.
The brewers of Omer Vander Ghinste brewery created this beer in honour of this former Kortrijk-based brewery, to which the Vander Ghinste Brewery is deeply indebted. LeFort is a complex, dark beer, 8.5% ABV, with sweet, fruity and soft notes. The pale and roasted, dark barley malts provide a perfect balance. Add to that the pleasant aroma of chocolate & caramel and the fruitiness of the top fermentation, and you experience a dark beer with a truly unique taste.
Brasserie LeFort is only on the market for one year and is nationally and internationally appreciated.
For the brewers of Omer Vander Ghinste this is another recognition on the hard and intensive work to keep on brewing quality beers.
