LeFort is a complex, dark beer of 10% alc. vol. with a sweet and fruity touch. The pale and roasted, dark barley malts give the beer a perfect balance. The beer is lightly flavored with chocolate and caramel and the top fermentation gives a slight fruitiness. This results in a dark beer with a completely unique taste.

On the European Beer Star (2014), LeFort won a silver medal in the category Belgian Style Strong Ale & a gold medal at the World Beer Awards (2017).

Omer Vander Ghinste met Marguerite Vandamme for the first time in 1898. Marguerite was the granddaughter of Felix Verscheure, owner of Brasserie LeFort in Kortrijk. Felix Verscheure started that brewery in 1854 and ran it for over 50 years.

When Felix Verscheure died in 1911,however, he had outlived both his children and his children-in-law. Marguerite Vandamme inherited the brewery and a lot of pubs and cafés in Kortrijk. The brewing was discontinued and that activity transferred to Bellegem.

The Brasserie LeFort period was characterized by beers with a high alcohol content. LeFort and Tripel LeFort pay tribute to the rich tradition of this brewery.
